COUNCILLORS were all in favour of increasing Holsworthy Town Council’s bank account daily spending limit to enable staff payments to be made more efficiently.

The council discussed whether it was prudent to look to increase their banking overall daily payments limit during the full council meeting on Wednesday, October 2. Due to Cllr Toby Johns’ profession he declared an interest.

Town clerk Vanessa Saunders said: “Basically there is a spending limit of £5,000. Normally that is fine, the only time it’s an issue is if we have a five week month. It has meant that two members of staff have needed to be paid one day and the other staff are paid the next day because we go just over that limit otherwise, but only just.”

All councillors were in favour of the increase if it made life easier for the council staff.
