TINTAGEL Castle had to close for a period of time when ‘trespassers’ made their way on to the island on the morning of Friday, June 22.

An English Heritage spokesperson said: “A number of trespassers made their way onto the island at Tintagel Castle on Friday morning. We alerted the police and they escorted the individuals off site. The incident meant that Tintagel Castle was closed to the public on Friday morning but it re-opened in the afternoon shortly after 2pm.”

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed they are investigating an incident of aggravated trespassing.

A number of people are helping police with their inquiries.
