A FAMILY-friendly and fun festival will combine two of summer’s best highlights: ice cream and bubbles.
The Ice Cream and Bubbles Festival at the The Royal Cornwall Events Centre is back after a two-year hiatus and will have something for everyone, whether you’re a toddler, a teen, or just young at heart.
Following on from the successful Ice Cream Championship held recently at Mount Edgcumbe, the event is being hosted by Miss Ivy Events.
Those attending the festival in Wadebridge will once again be invited to test their skills and their taste buds with an array of flavours from local sponsor Surfing Cow.
“The festival is all about celebrating summer and sampling the many creative and refreshing ice cream flavours available, whilst enjoying some magical bubble shows,” say organisers.
“There’ll even be a bubble or two in a glass on offer for the grown-ups!”
The festival will feature bouncy castles and circus workshops, street food, Pimms and Prosecco, gift stalls, traditional summertime games and even an ice cream trail.
But what sets the day apart is the fun and challenging Westcountry Ice Cream Championships. Contestants will need to negotiate their way through several heats.
From skipping and licking, ducking, and dodging their way through a fiendishly challenging obstacle course whilst carrying a cone, to identifying flavours blindfolded, those who win through will face the ultimate challenge: to eat as much ice cream as they can in just one minute.
The Championships launched just a few weeks ago at Mount Edgcumbe, where a crowd of hungry contestants pitted their skills against each other and the clock to be crowned champion, and winner of 5 litres of ice cream every month for six months.
Miss Ivy Events Director Jo Macaskie said: “Despite the challenges facing both families and small businesses these days, we want to bring an affordable and enjoyable festival to local families and people visiting the area, whilst also providing a platform at which small businesses can trade.”
