NOT even the appalling weather could spoil the traditional meet of the Tetcott Hunt in Holsworthy on Boxing Day.
The whole of The Square, Holsworthy, was packed with some 300 onlookers, young and old alike, clearly demonstrating their continuing support for hunting.
They witnessed the master huntsman, whippers-in, hounds and more than 30 smartly turned out riders forming the centrepiece and carrying on a tradition that Holsworthy has witnessed for well over 100 years.
Newly appointed hunt chairman Barry Butler was absolutely thrilled to see such a huge crowd.
He said: "To see so many people turning out to support the hunt in such atrocious weather conditions is most encouraging. Among the thirty riders were a number of youngsters which all bodes well for the Tetcott.
"But of course the thoroughly enjoyable day they had was only made possible by the goodwill of farmers and landowners. Farmers in particular have had such a difficult year yet throughout the hunting season they remain very supportive and do everything possible to support the hunt; we are all so grateful to them."
