A NEW housing estate has been given the go-ahead this week for land off the A388 adjacent to Newton House, on Tavistock Road, Launceston (PA19/09583).
Westcountry Land has been given permission to build 103 houses on 8.96 acres of land – 31 of which will be affordable. An application was originally submitted in 2018 but the latest scheme has a new “higher density layout” and an amended road and access design.
The site forms part of Cornwall’s Strategic Allocations Development Plan Document. It links new developments south of the A30 with the existing neighbourhood of Stourscombe. The open market housing includes nine four-bedroom houses, 26 three-bedroom houses, 33 two-bedroom houses and four two-bedroom apartments over a garage. Twenty-two affordable rent homes will range from two four-bedroom homes to two one-bedroom apartments and there will be nine affordable shared ownership houses including three three-bedroom houses and two two-bedroom apartments.
The development includes two acres of public open space and wildlife corridors and 210 car parking spaces.
