GENEROUS donations still poured in despite only a third of supporters turning out to this year's annual Dilke Hospital fete.

Miserable weather deterred the usual droves of people from flocking to the hospital – but those who did attend had plenty of fun.

There was everything from circus acts to country dance performances and music from Berry Hill band to grand prize draws and children's entertainment.

Treasurer of the Friends of the Dilke Hospital, Sue Young said: "We still raised over £5,000 even though only a third of our usual total amount of people turned out, which is fantastic.

"All the events and activities went ahead except for the model railway which we planned to set-up in a tent but poor weather forced them to cancel.

"I need the winner of the grand prize draw: Mrs J Walding to get in touch as I don't have any contact details for her. She can call me on 01594 542058. We would like to thank all our supporters and those who helped organise the event. As ever, we are now planning next year's event which will be on Saturday, June 11."

All the proceeds raised support the continuing work the hospital provides to its patients.
