AT the re-scheduled Holsworthy Town Council meeting held on Wednesday, January 13, Sgt Pennie Channing (Neighbourhood Beat Manager) gave December's police report.

She said that December was another quiet month and the trend of low crimes had continued, largely due to the weather.

There was one 'blip' in the month when a letterbox fire occurred. Other crimes included: reported cases of domestic violence and cases of "nuissance driving" in Dobles Lane and the Leisure Centre, during the snow conditions.

Sgt Channing explained that some of the shops and other local businesses in the town had been made aware of the 'J9' campaign to stop domestic violence and help victims seek the help they need. She said they were willing to display the 'J9' logo.

Sgt Channing said New Year's Eve was quite a quiet night, with only two cases of assault. There had been very little anti-social behaviour over the month, however, there had been littering behind Waitrose "on the older part of the viaduct."
