THE Friends of Holsworthy Hospital are currently donating more than £35,000 to Holsworthy Hospital.
At their annual general meeting on Tuesday, November 22, ward manager Gillian Piper and other hospital staff gave a presentation on equipment the hospital needed. The committee agreed to supply two fall prevention chairs, two gel cushions, two eco plus foam cushions, a hoist and slings and two Ross returns (to enable patients to be manoeuvred) at a cost of £13,000.
A new physiotherapy treatment room costing £17,400 has already been built and is in use and £4,740 has been earmarked for a new nurses' station next spring. Long ago, the friends offered to supply two automatic doors for the hospital entrance and are still waiting for a response from the Primary Care Trust.
