ON Wednesday, November 4, at the Holsworthy Town Council meeting, the Council Tax precept for 2010/2011 was briefly discussed by the council.
However, a decision could not be made by councillors, so the matter has been adjourned until December's meeting.
The town clerk, Clare Dalley, explained that
before a decision is made, the council had to set its budget in order to decide the precept.
Cllr Liz Squire, the Mayor of Holsworthy, said: "We have to think about this very seriously."
Cllr Richard Brown was amongst the councillors who also supported the decision for an amount to be decided for the precept at the next council meeting.
When the town council decides how much it needs for spending in the financial year 2010/2011, it will make a precept to Torridge District Council.
The final amount due from council taxpayers will consist of the town, Torridge, Devon County Council, and the Devon and Cornwall Police spending needs.
The draft budget document was not made available to the Holsworthy Post.
