Devon and Cornwall Police are warning that people in the Holsworthy area have been receiving bogus letters attempting to convince them that they have won prizes in a foreign lottery, usually Spanish.

The elderly and vulnerable are being caught out and so the police are asking

people to warn any such neighbours or family.

People have also been receiving telephone calls purporting to come from BT telling them that they have fallen behind with their phone bills and threatening to make their phone unusable for a while if they did not pay up.

They are then asked to give their bank details. The police are asking people not to be taken in by these calls and to realise that phone companies do not do

business in this way.
