TORRIDGE District Council's Animal Welfare Officer is appealing for people in Holsworthy to report dog owners if they are seen leaving their pet's mess.
Carl Caswell, Animal Welfare Officer, is employed by TDC to deal with any issues relating to animals in the area. These include welfare issues and licensing.
Areas which he patrols on a regular basis include Manor Car Park, Stanhope Park and the viaduct.
Last year, PCSO Emma Tomkies of Holsworthy Police and TDC's Clean Neighbourhoods Officer, Dean Smith, joined forces to try and combat the issue.
At the time, they collected 75 bags of dog mess from a 50 yard stretch of path and grass verge.
Carl is appealing for people to contact him confidentially with as much information as possible if an incident is witnessed, including repeat problem areas in the town, times, the possible name of the person, description of dog, etc.
If you have more information about the culprits or any other animal related issues, contact Carl Caswell, Animal Welfare Officer on 01237 428855 or email [email protected]">[email protected].
People who do not clean up after their dog can be given a £50 on-the-spot fine. If they refuse to pay the fine, they can be prosecuted and may face a court appearance with a maximum penalty of £1,000.
