Her devotion to duty and efforts on behalf of the community will be recognised next Monday (March 15), when PCSO Beverley Harvey who is attached to Holsworthy Police Station, will be at Barnstaple Civic Centre to receive the award of 'North Devon PCSO of the Year'.

For the past four years she has been engaged in so many ways in the life of the 24 parishes which make up the Holsworthy rural area.

For example, she works closely with district and parish councillors; attends community events; provides reassurance and support especially to those living in isolated areas; visits schools and provides cycle awareness training. She is involved in crime prevention and the Community Speed Watch scheme and may even be seen riding on the library bus. People with whom she has had contact speak highly of her commitment and amenability.

Sgt Pennie Channing said: "In ten years as a sergeant I have never received so much positive feedback about a colleague as I have with Beverley. She provides excellent service to the rural community and is a fantastic resource to the local beat team."

Beverley is pictured with PC Andy Moakes who, after three years as a patrol officer, comes to Holsworthy Police Station this month as Neighbourhood Beat Manager for the rural area, taking over from PC John Shepherd.

Born in Paignton, he lives at Hartland, has 13 years' experience in the police and will work closely with PCSO Beverley and with PCSO Raquel Rowe.
