Holsworthy's Mission Cafe, which is a place where young people aged eight to 19 can meet and relax on two evenings a week, urgently needs funds.

It has its own special room in the Memorial Hall and provides a wide range of services for young people, helping them to get qualifications and enhance their self esteem. There are drop-in sessions for advice and support on careers, relationships and health, accredited courses and the chance to be involved in community projects.

It started in 2000 and is run by a team who are either fully qualified or working towards counselling qualifications, as well as by young volunteers. It currently receives funding from the Big Lottery Fund but this comes to an end in three months.

Speaking at the Community Forum last Thursday, team leader Nicky Badham said that although there was no shortage of help to buy equipment, ironically, so far they had been unable to find funds just to run the café.
