AT HOLSWORTHY'S Annual Town meeting, held in the Market Hall last Thursday (April 21) the Mayor, Cllr Richard Brown announced that the civic honour, 'Freeman of Holsworthy', voted for by the public, had gone to Doreen Buckingham.
This was for her service to the local community, which he described as 'a popular choice,' writes Christine Williams (Holsworthy correspondent).
Doreen was born and brought up in Holsworthy and has lived in the town all her life, working in the family furniture business founded by her father. In her early days she had been a telegraph girl and a post girl, returning home for a full cooked breakfast after her round.
