MACMILLAN Cancer Support's Holsworthy Group has celebrated another successful AGM. The group raised more than £5,000 for the charity in 2008.
At the meeting, held in the Methodist Chapel in Bodmin Street recently, out-going chairman Jenny Luff was succeeded by Cathy Meyer.
Speaking at the AGM, Macmillan Fundraising Manager Alex Folkes said: "Macmillan fundraisers in Holsworthy have yet again done sterling work in 2008. I would particularly like to pay tribute to all of those businesses who have kindly agreed to host collecting boxes for us. Holsworthy probably generates more donations in this way per person than any other part of the county."
The meeting heard that the local group had raised more than £5,000 for local cancer support services in the past year through events such as the World's Biggest Coffee Morning, walking events and collecting tins hosted by businesses around the town. The group expressed its collective determination to do even better in 2009.
