AT?A?recent Holsworthy Hamlets Parish Council meeting held on Monday, August 9, councillors were given a presentation on the possibility of new houses being built in Chilsworthy.

The meeting was held preliminary to an application being submitted to Torridge District Council identifying a piece of land in the village that Westward Housing, TDC and Westward Housing want to develop on.

It was revealed that they would hope to build 16 units in total, which would consist of seven open market houses and a mixture of affordable and part ownership houses. These would be in Gloyn Park, already a residential area.

Chairman of Holsworthy Hamlets Parish Council, Ken Carroll, explained on behalf of the council that the real concern raised was what was being put forward for the proposal. The houses would first be offered to local people in the village, if the demand for this failed to meet supply, the properties would then be offered to people that live around ten to twelve miles away.

See this week's 'Post' for further comments on the proposal.
