A HOLSWORTHY based fire fighter has been celebrated for her successes after passing her new recruit courses.
Sophie Glaze is a recent recruit to the team at Holsworthy Fire Station and has been undertaking the various courses required as part of her learning.
During the last couple of months, her studies have been extensive, including basic firefighting skills, road traffic collision training and an intense course in using breathing apparatus. As a result, she is now approved to ride on operational incidents.
Her successes mean that hopes are high for a bright future as one of Holsworthy’s life saving fire fighters - although there is still much for her to learn,
Over the next couple of years, Sophie is set to continue her development, with additional skills to learn as she builds her way to becoming certified as a fully competent firefighter with Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.
This will include building her operational skills and further knowledge while learning from her colleagues at Holsworthy Fire Station and attending incidents they are called out to.
Congratulating Sophie, a spokesperson for Holsworthy Fire Station said: “A massive well done to Firefighter Sophie Glaze on passing her new recruit courses.
“Over the last couple of months Sophie has attended her basic firefighting skills course learning all the different equipment and procedures mainly around pumps and ladders, also an RTC (road traffic collision) and the final intense BA (breathing apparatus) course and assessment.
“Sophie has passed these and is now approved to ride on operational incidents. Over the next couple of years she will continue her development, building her operational skills and further knowledge to become a fully competent firefighter. A fantastic achievement and a super addition to the team! Well done from all here at Holsworthy Fire Station.”
