The Holsworthy Day Centre has at last received news from Social Services, albeit three weeks late, that it is to receive funding and that its future is secure for one more year at least.

Year after year the staff and clients have an anxious wait to know whether or not the vital service they provide for the elderly will be able to continue. The manager, Anne Jose recently met Geoffrey Cox MP who agreed that is was unacceptable that the Day Centre should be on tenterhooks every spring awaiting a decision on its future and he is to press for Social Services to agree to a three-year funding period.

Mr Cox also discussed the facilities available in the Manor Suite which is used by both the Day Centre and the Luncheon Club. Mrs Jose told him that she had understood that the refurbishment of the Memorial Hall would include upgraded facilities in the Manor Suite, especially a bathroom, better disabled access and badly needed improvements to the kitchen including basic decoration. To her great regret, to date nothing had been done, but she lived in hope.
