This Saturday, May 4, will be a milestone day for Holsworthy’s Bodmin St Methodist Church, writes Christine Williams.
For more than three years the hall next to the chapel has been out of action because of the state of the floor and it has taken all this time to get permission for alterations and to arrange finance. Meanwhile because of the age of the building unforeseen problems arose. With the completion of the major refurbishment of the main hall and small hall as well as an upgraded kitchen and newly built toilets, now all on one level, a reopening and rededication ceremony will take place.
Rev Graham Thompson, chairman of the Plymouth and Exeter district of the Methodist Church, will lead a short service and cut a ribbon.
Still to be completed is work on the porch and repairs to the opaque window above it as soon as funds become available. To this end a ‘Gift Day’ and tea will be included in the event at 3pm. Future fundraising events will include a ‘sankey evening’ and a joint concert by the Arscott Ladies and the Newton St Petrock Male Voice Choir later this year.
