SOME 25 musicians from Holsworthy and Hartland Town Bands joined forces in Holsworthy Memorial Hall on Saturday evening, November 12, to give a concert of rousing music appropriate to Remembrance, writes Christine Williams.

Under their conductors Anthony Jones (Holsworthy) and John Thompson (Hartland) they presented a programme, which included Evening Hymn and Sunset, Nimrod, Jerusalem, Classical Gold, Breezing Down Broadway, Bells across the Meadow and Ashokan Farewell.

Major Mike Johns, the president of Holsworthy Town Band, introduced the items in his inimitable way.

Some of the proceeds from this concert will be donated to Help the Heroes, a charity close to the heart of Holsworthy’s musical director.

The charity also benefitted from a cheque for £300, the proceeds from a concert given by the band in June, which was presented at Saturday’s concert.
