THE final of the Lions South West quiz competition took place in Clyst St Mary, near Exeter, on Sunday, February 19.
The competition is open to all 60 clubs in the Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset area and, for the second year in a row, was won by the team from Holsworthy and District Lions.
In a closely fought final, Holsworthy saw off strong challenges from the Lions teams from Budleigh Salterton, Exeter and Tavistock, to win the competition by eight points and retain the trophy they won last year.
This year’s team featured Holsworthy’s deputy mayor, Pat Smith, who was also on the winning Holsworthy team when the competition first started in 1992.
