St Pirans Day Challenge at Bude & North Cornwall Golf Club — Better late than never for the annual Cornwall v those from the far lands over the Tamar, writes Barry Sykes.

In shirtsleeve and shorts weather the format followed the same as last year. Teams of three with best two scores to count on each hole stableford scoring. Although the weather was perfect the scoring was five points lower than last year with only two teams breaking into the 80 point area. Two teams hit the 80 points with the scores drifting down to 73.

For the first time in nine years the holders Cornwall lost their grip on the cup losing by a small margin of five points.

The final team result: Cornwall 467, R.O.W. 472.
