Bude Hockey Club are urgently seeking more players to join their men's second team otherwise they could be forced to withdraw the team from the league.

The team have already cancelled a number of games due to a lack of players and it is vital to the club, town and community that they continue with two men's teams.

Andy Davis from the club said playing hockey "offers the chance to socialise with other people and is a great way to keep fit in a friendly but competitive way yet supporting the first team so that we can keep Bude Hockey Club competing at the highest possible level."

He added: "The team currently have a core group of people who are very committed to playing but without your help to make a full team are unable to play. You do not have to be at a certain level or have previous experience, just energetic, friendly and able to play games on Saturday afternoons through till spring.

"We are also very keen to encourage younger players so if you have a son and are looking for a way to channel their energy in a constructive way then please contact us. It can be very daunting to get them to join a new club so please come down as well to watch and support them or even better both of you can join in!

"Once again we really do need support from our local community so if you have any questions please contact me on 01288 350142 or 07729 029561 or come along and watch our training sessions on Thursdays at the astro pitch from 7pm where you can meet the people and see for yourself!"
