A Highways report is to be commissioned by Launceston Town Council as part of a challenge at the appeal hearing of the Upper Chapel development in the town.

Cornwall Council rejected the planning application for 100 houses by Hallam Land Management in October. The company has since lodged an appeal against the decision. The hearing is tentatively set for a date in March and although the appeal will be challenged by Cornwall Council representatives, Launceston Town Councillors can, if it wishes, submit evidence that backs the plan's rejection.

The development met unanimous rejection from the community, the basis of many arguments being increased traffic in Upper Chapel would be dangerous, particularly by a primary school.
