SEVENTEEN people turned out to Widemouth Task Force’s latest beach clean on Blackrock beach recently.
Taking place on a gusty but dry Saturday on February 16, the team of 17 took to Blackrock to tackle the masses of litter and pollution scattered across the otherwise picturesque beach.
Founder of Widemouth Task Force, Ado Shorland, reported: “At first glance it didn’t seem too bad, but our power hour produced 24kg of rubbish, which we collected from the beach, dunes and hedges!”
Young and old turned out to take part in the clean, with beach cleaners heading over to Blackrock Cafe for post-clean refreshments.
A ‘big spring clean’ will take place at Widemouth Bay this March. To keep up-to-date on beach cleans with the Widemouth Task Force team, like their Facebook page.
