LEZANT Horticultural Show was held on Saturday, August 10, in Jubilee Field, Trekenner.

All eyes were to the sky waiting in trepidation for the forecast gale force winds and heavy rain that had been predicted. However, apart from some heavy gusts in the morning and the occasional light shower in the afternoon, the weather was extremely kind.

The afternoon was a great success, with plenty of wonderful entries in all categories. There are some very talented people in Lezant parish. The standard of exhibits was extremely high and the guest opener, the Rev Jo Smart, had a difficult job in picking her favourite one for the Kismet Spiller Cup, which is awarded to the exhibit the opener likes best.

Launceston Town Band entertained the crowd with an array of music and the children and adults alike were kept busy by Magic Martin. Three lovely alpacas from Sunnydale Alpacas enchanted the crowd especially when they walked around the marquee. There were sideshow games for people to try their skill at and brilliant teas provided by Lezant WI. There were also some boot sales stalls for people to grab a bargain from.

Prize giving was held at the end of the show and cups, rosettes and salvers were awarded to the winners.
