'Carewise' is an organisation dedicated to offering practical and emotional support to young carers up to the age of 18. Set up in 2001 it has recently come to Holsworthy and holds a fortnightly drop-in centre at the Mission Café in the Memorial Hall.

Many young people care for or give support to someone in their family who is ill, disabled or has a mental health, a drug or an alcohol problem. Sometimes they may provide support when the family is going through a traumatic time, for example when there is a bereavement in the family.

Currently young people from 16 families in the Holsworthy area attend. 'Carewise' helps by giving them the opportunity to meet and chat with other young people in a similar position. It can provide transport and organises outings, giving them a break and a chance to have fun. Each young carer is matched with a volunteer mentor to give advice and guidance. It sends out a monthly newsletter and provides an information pack.
