UNPAID carers will be made aware of the free help and support they can get from their local Carers Forum at a meeting to be held in Bude on Wednesday, October 16.
These meetings are run by the Kernow Carers Service (part of Cornwall Rural Community Charity) and are a free service for unpaid carers that gives them an opportunity to discuss the issues they face and have their voices heard in a welcoming and confidential environment, with others facing similar problems.
There are many people in the Bude community who are unaware of the help they can get and who also many not recognise themselves as carers because they look after a loved one or friend.
Staff from Kernow Carers Service will be at the meetings to give help and advice to carers, including making referrals to Carer Support Workers (CSWs) who work directly with individual carers to help them with any issues they have and signposting to benefits and services.
Where issues can’t be resolved at the meeting or by a CSW, the service attends various other groups such as the Carers Partnership Board and Healthwatch Cornwall where they are able to highlight any concerns members may have in regard to their caring role.
The Carers Forum meeting in Bude will be held at Neetside Community Centre, on October 16 from 2pm to 4pm.
All carers will be made very welcome. For more information, call 01872 243531.
