THE Care Quality Commission (CQC) has released its findings on a number of nursing homes in Cornwall, with Kernow House in Launceston being marked as ‘requires improvement’.
Fifty-five nursing homes in Cornwall were inspected by the CQC, who are regulators of healthcare services run by the NHS and private companies.
Kernow House, on Landlake Road, which is run by Barchester Healthcare Homes Ltd, was inspected by the CQC on February 7 of this year and was marked as ‘requires improvement’ for safety, caring and being well-led, but was given ‘good’ for being effective and responsive.
A spokesperson from Barchester Healthcare said: “We take the findings of the CQC very seriously. We have implemented a number of improvements as part of the action plan we developed in order to address the issues raised in the report. These include a recent refurbishment of the home, and the recruitment of new staff.
“The care of our residents is always at the forefront of everything we do, and we are proud of our skilled, effective and responsive staff who were highlighted positively within the report.”
