Since December 30 there have been 35 new cases of COVID in Launceston, totalling to 96 positive cases.
Today (January 4) in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, there has been 668 cases of COVID reported and 0 deaths (within 28 days of a positive test).
In the UK today, there has been 157,758 cases reported and 42 deaths (within 28 days of a positive test).

It has been two years since the first confirmed cases of coronavirus were reported back in February 2020 and a lot has happened since then. But how does it compare to now?
Looking back exactly a year ago to January 4 2021, there were 58,784 confirmed daily cases of COVID in the UK, significantly less compared to now.
Also on this day, the prime minister was preparing to address the nation which would announce the next national lockdown, instructing everyone to stay at home. The lockdown saw the closing of schools and shops to help stop the spread of the disease and take pressure off the NHS.
The vaccine programme had just begun with the arrival of the Oxford Asta Zeneca vaccine which accelerated the rollout. Plans were made to vaccinate the top four priority groups with their first dose by February 2021.
