THERE were some ‘heady’ moments for members of Bude

Stratton and District Cancer Research UK when a ladies’ evening was held in the Old Post Office, Holsworthy — now a hat hire and dry cleaners business.

The visit was organised by Mary Rogers, along with committee members.

Kerry Smith gave an interesting talk on how she adapts hats and fascinators to match wedding and special occasions outfits. Everyone had fun, trying on a selection from around 400 hats.

This was followed by wine and cheese and a draw.

Thanks were expressed to Kerry Smith and Paul Wright for an enjoyable evening. The event raised £218.

Mary was congratulated by committee chairman Ray Shaddick at a recent meeting, on being chosen as Bude’s Citizen of the year.

Mary still works tirelessly for the committee and many other charities in Bude. Her friendly personality has earned her recognition of citizen of the year, an honour richly deserved.

Despite atrocious weather the Triangle sale in Bude raised £166.
