THE walk up the Canal from Bude to Helebridge is becoming increasingly popular with people of all ages and at all times of year; there's much to see in the marshes and on the water, and the walking is easy and sociable.

As you leave Bude, at the point where the path divides and goes left to the River Life Café and the rugby club, or straight on to Rodds Bridge, look to the right.

On the opposite bank of the canal is the cluster of green buildings housing the Bude Band and the First Bude Scouts.

Many local people will know that Cornwall Council has found a new site for both organisations, up next to Morrisons Supermarket, and there are questions about what might happen to the canal side site when they are gone.
