PEOPLE in Bude have the chance to win £150 if they produce the best images in the Tennyson Biggest Bude Waves Contest.

Alfred Tennyson came to North Cornwall in 1848, expecting to see ‘larger waves than on any other part of the British coast’. The Lord Tennyson Restaurant is so named to commemorate his stay at the Falcon Hotel, Bude.

The hotel will be closed for two weeks in January 2017 for refurbishments, but one wall will be dedicated to an image — be it a photo or painting, in colour or in black and white — of the largest waves crashing against the Breakwater or Barrel Rock.

The contest will close on December 10, and entries should be emailed to [email protected] and marked: Tennyson Biggest Bude Waves Contest. Limit is three images per entrant. The winning entry has copyright of the image or knows it is out of copyright.

The Falcon Hotel will have copyright and free use of the image for anything in connection with the publicity and decoration of the Falcon Hotel.

All decisions or disputes will be decided by the Falcon Hotel entirely at their discretion.
