EMANATING from the Stores Sales Ring at Hallworthy Market on Friday evening was the sound of the St Gennys Silver Band leading the singing of those who had gathered for the eighth Annual Harvest Songs of Praise.

The evening was led by the Rev Michael Parsons and the Rev Bryan Ede, with the speaker being Mr Brian Parkman, who initiated the Songs of Praise event in 2009.

Bible readings were contributed to the service by Mrs Sue Ede and the Rev Tony Windross, with the prayers of intercession being led by the Rev Doreen Sparey-Delacassa. The event also included a sketch entitled ‘Toast’ presented by Mrs Edwina Broad and Mrs Vivienne Paul, which included humour as well as some points to consider.

Refreshments were served in the Market Cafe prior to the Harvest Auction in the Wilsey Down Hotel which was arranged by the landlord, Mr Rick Cobbledick with Mr Patrick Dennis from Kivells auctioning the goods. The proceeds from the Songs of Praise, auction and raffle amounted to £1,185 for the HeartSWell Charity.

On behalf of the Camelford committee Mrs Joyce Brown expressed thanks to everyone involved at the end of the evening.
