GOLF Club steward Mike Ingram watched proudly as his family team won the annual White Hart Hotel pro-am at Launceston.

Led by Dorset professional Paul Jones (Canford Magna) Matt, Mark and Amy Ingram carded an impressive 18-under-par round of 122 to achieve a comfortable three-shot victory.

It represented a double success for Jones as he also won the individual medal with a round of six-under-par 64.

In the annual White Hart Hotel Fourball Betterball tournament professional event West Region PGA chairman Peter Laugher (Thurlestone) and Welsh National champion Trevor Jones (Hambrook Golf Centre) took first prize

They secured a two-shot victory in the longest running event in the region that has been held for 28 years. White Hart Hotel owner Alan Squire said: "It was yet another overwhelming success. We had a great time in the pro-am ad the quality of golf in the betterball was quite astonishing.

"Everyone commented on the very good condition of the Launceston course which is as good as we've seen it."

They shot a remarkable ten-under-par 60 in the second round – the best of the tournament - after a modest 65 on the opening day to win £900 each.

Trevose professional Gary Lenaghan and his assistant Grant Slater were third on 128 (Trevose, 61 67).
