MEMBERS of the Halwill Garden Club made a visit to their favourite TV gardening presenter, Carol Klein's own garden recently.
They took the scenic route and stopped at Halsdon Nature Reserve for a picnic lunch. This site catered for both the sun and shade lovers, who enjoyed the beautiful views and listened to the birds' chorus, whilst they ate their sandwiches.
Arriving at the garden and nursery as it opened for the afternoon, they spent a pleasant time admiring the rather wild planting, which showed what could be done in both shade and an open, sunny site.
Members also had a browse around the plants that were on sale, which led to a very colourful and also spiky cargo for the bus aisle on the homeward journey.
The Halwill Garden Club gather on the third Tuesday of each month – the next meeting being on Tuesday, July 20 when Dennis Balsdon will give a talk on carnivorous plants and also have some for sale.
Everyone is welcome to these very friendly meetings, which are held from 7pm in the Winsford Centre at Halwill Junction. For further details please contact the chairman on 01409 221505.
