THE 'Wigs' will be debating at the annual meeting of Camelford Town Council — that's not the 19th Century Whigs but a kind-hearted band of councillors donning hairpieces for charity.

At the last meeting of the town council, an invitation was received, asking councillors to support a flagship event in aid of CLIC Sargent — May 21 has been named Wig Wednesday by the charity, a day when people across the UK can wear a wig to raise funds for children and young people with cancer.

It was resolved by members that the council shows support by publicising the event and for members to wear wigs at the annual meeting, to be held at Camelford Hall on May 20.
