A GROUP of walkers from Bude recently undertook the ninth ‘Amy’s Walk’ along the Camel Trail, in support of ‘Sam’s House’ — a CLIC Sargent ‘Home from Home’ event.
On Sunday, June 18, a determined group of walkers braved the Camel Trail, from Wadebridge to Padstow and back, in blazing heat!
Evening refreshments were provided by the Brendon Arms in Bude, which were very much appreciated, as was the music by the group Finch.
This was the ninth annual walk for ‘Sam’s House’, which is a support home for families to stay at whilst their child receives treatment for cancer or leukaemia at Bristol Children’s Hospital.
One of the organisers had stayed there for seven months with her daughter following a bone marrow transplant. The CLIC?Sargent home enables families to stay together during difficult times and eases the burden of travelling long distances.
The walk managed to raise £2,861.
A spokesperson said: “A very successful day was enjoyed by all. A big thank you to all our walkers and their supporters.”
