AN exhibition that focuses on grief opened at Bude’s St Martin’s United Reformed Church last week — an event that was attended by 40 people.

Central to the exhibition is a set of eight clay and alabaster sculptures by artist Jean Parker, illustrating and exploring the feelings around grief and loss.

Jean moved to Bude in 2013 and is a member of St Martin’s URC. Subtitled Good Grief, the exhibition was born as a reflection of her own experience of cancer.

For this exhibition, St Martin’s is working with Christians Together in Bude, Stratton and District and in association with Westhill Endowment, a grant-giving agency.

Alongside the exhibition there will be concerts, workshops, quiet days and a prayer station and associated agencies will provide information on the services they offer for those suffering the grief of loss.

The exhibition runs until 29 August, Monday to Friday 11am to 4pm, Saturday 11am to 3pm. Admission is free but donations are invited, which will go to local charities.
