BUDDING gardeners from Badshot Lea Infant School began the summer term with a trip to Squire's Garden Centre to take part in a grow your own sunflower competition.
Richard Wells, centre manager at Squire's Badshot Lea, led a mini-tuition session to educate the children on how to plant and provide the best care for sunflowers. Each child was given a packet of sunflower seeds and shown how to plant them. They were then able to take their pots away to monitor the plant's progress from home. At the end of July the height of each sunflower will be measured, and Squire's Garden Centre will give a prize to the little owner of the tallest plant.
