ONE of the largest street fairs in CornwallCallington Honey Fair — took place last Wednesday, October 3.

The honey competitions took place in the Town Hall with bee displays from the Cornish Beekeeping Association, and the streets of Callington were given over to craft stalls, a town crier competition, live music, and a fun fair, with honey cream teas for refreshment.

There was also a children’s art competition entered by around 200 youngsters from local schools, judged by visiting Lions Peter and Christine Rowe from Launceston.

Andrew Searle, president of Callington Lions, said everything went smoothly, and as usual there were more than 100 stallholders selling their wares.

Entertainment started at 12.30pm all the way through to 7.30pm, and Andrew added for the first time, students from Callington Community College also put on entertainment.

Andrew said: “It was a great community atmosphere.”
