FIRE crews from Launceston were called to a large gorse fire at Laneast last Thursday.

This is the third time in less than three months crews have tackled gorse fires on the down.

Passerby Duncan Turner captured a dramatic photograph of the fire on his camera.

He told the Post: "We had been staying with family on a farm in Davidstow for the past week. As we were leaving we could see the fire on the horizon. We set off and happened to be heading towards the direction of the fire, and as we got close we could see the scale of it.

Luckily, the fire service had just arrived. From a safe distance I was able to take the photos."

Two appliances attended the scene around 9pm and crews used equipment, including beaters to extinguish the blaze.
