THE members of Launceston Golf Club have raised the wonderful amount of £2,401.69 for St Luke’s Hospice by way of supporting their captain’s charity.

Club captain Paul Hicks raised nearly £1,000 on a single charity golf day and the balance was raised by events such as coffee mornings, soup mornings and afternoon cream teas to support lady captain Elizabeth Swords.

Some of the ladies from the club, together with other friends of Elizabeth, also made a quilt which was raffled to boost the fund. This was won by Mrs Nicky Lane, previously from Lifton but now living in Hampshire and who actually first introduced Elizabeth to quilting at Cowslip Workshops!

Both Elizabeth and Paul have extended a huge thank you to all who have support them in their fundraising efforts this year. They said: “We are amazed at the generosity of so many people for such a good cause. Thank you.”
