AUTHOR, Bill Lowe, has illustrated his fond childhood memories through his recent book, Gizmo: The Cat With No Whiskers.
Bill spent the majority of his summer holidays as a child travelling around the country in an old VW campervan with his eccentric Aunt Mary and her Devon Rex cat, and the trio would set off for a different destination each morning.
One place where Bill was always happy to stop was Bude, where they would treat themselves to Cornish fish and chips; Bill would often treat his Aunt Mary’s Devon Rex to some of his fish.
Bill’s inspiration came from his experience with four Devon Rex cats that he has now owned throughout his life. He said: “They are a very special breed of cat; they’re a breed like no other.”
Mr Lowe has made Gizmo’s tale into a three-book trilogy, the first story being Gizmo: The Cat with no Whiskers; the second being Gizmo: The Cat who had French Lessons; and the third being Gizmo: The Cat who Moved to the Mediterranean, which is what Bill is currently working on.
The third book will portray Bill’s experience with moving to places such as Cyprus, taking his beloved cat with him.
Bill currently lives half of the year in the South of France, and the other half in Andalusia.
