Mary Andrew, Girlguiding Launceston District Contact recently went to the Tregadillett Brownies' end of term Easter party to present Beth Martin with her Adult Leadership badge and certificate.
Beth, Heather Oakes, Hayley Warring and Melanie Smith, have all completed the training that enables them to qualify as Girlguiding Adult Leaders. Some of them started the training while they were Young Leaders and now they are 18 years old, they are able to hold the Girlguiding warrant.
Beth, Heather and Hayley have all been through the Brownies, Guides and Rangers and so have had several years enjoying the fun and activities provided for them and are now helping the next generation.
Beth has been Snowy Owl with Tregadillett Brownies for nearly two years and as they are short of adult help, she also helps with the Tregadillett Rainbows and Guides while still attending the Dunheved Rangers.
Girlguiding Launceston is always on the lookout for new adult members to join their team as leaders.
Sara Fuge, Girlguiding Launceston District Administrator said: "Many readers may already be aware that one of the Launceston Brownie Units and the Launceston Rainbows are having to close from Easter due to the work and family commitments of the current
leaders.
"We have always had lots of girls on our waiting list ready to join us but at this stage we are having to turn many away as we just do not have the adults available to run the units and so we only have limited spaces available for the girls to fill.
"We would like to ask for new members to come forward and help us provide for the children of Launceston and the surrounding areas. Girlguiding will provide all the training and support required to become an Adult Leader.
"The members of Girlguiding Launceston will be on hand to help and give advice all through the training too — so any new member wouldn't be left on their own to do things by themselves. Of course there will be the necessary registration forms and the CRB checks to be filled out as we are committed to providing a safe environment for our members.
"Volunteers can give as much or as little time as they feel able to commit. Any expenses incurred (petrol costs, phone and photocopying etc) are paid for from the unit or district — so no one is out of
pocket!"
If anyone is interested in joining their team please phone Sara Fuge on 01566 782630 for more
information.
