A cake competition, organised by the WI, was held at North Petherwin Village Hall with the proceeds going to parish organisations such as the youth club.

There were more than 40 entries in the competition and classes for youngsters included making crispy cakes, gingerbread men and cupcakes.

There was a men’s only class for Victor sponges and the women’s only class for Victoria sponges as well as two open classes where people made farmer’s fruit cakes and signature chocolate cakes.
