A TORPOINT father and daughter are planning a daring joint jump from 15,000 feet to support Children's Hospice South West (CHSW).
Retired police officer and former Cornish Times local correspondent Paul Roper and his eldest daughter Helen have signed up to do tandem skydives at Perranporth, weather permitting, on Saturday, September 12.
Paul and his wife visited CHSW's Little Harbour hospice at Porthpean, St Austell, last year and were moved by what they saw. Paul said: 'It is such an amazing place.
'The charity does fantastic work caring for the children, parents and siblings. We aim to raise £1,000 for the charity and we'll be paying for our own skydives, so that every penny raised goes to the hospice.'

Paul describes Little Harbour as a 'home-from-home' for families. 'It's a place where each family member can find time and space to feel normal and do things they enjoy as a mum, as a dad, as a brother or sister, and as a family – not overwhelmingly as a carer,' he said.
The charity relies on fundraising and donations to provide 24-hour care for children at the end of their lives, as well as support to families during a time of bereavement and beyond.
