ENTRY forms will soon be available for this year’s Santa Run in Launceston, which will be a new event hoping to benefit the community.

In the past, Children’s Hospice South West has organised ‘Santas on the Run’ events in the town. This year the charity’s nearest such run will be in Holsworthy, on Friday, December 1.

Not wanting Launceston to miss out on the festivities, deputy mayor Dave Gordon is taking it upon himself to organise a Santa Run, which will take place on Sunday, December 10.

It will start and finish in Coronation Park, starting at 11am, and will be supported by Phoenix Leisure Centre.

Entry forms will be available soon and will offer early entry discounts entry fees, £8 for adults and £6 for children for entries received up to Friday, November 10.

Entries received after this will be adults £10 and children £8. Forms will be available soon from the Tourist Information Centre.

There will be festive medals to all finishers plus gifts for the children and trophies to the first three and best dressed Santa.

As this is the first year for the new community run, there will be a race limit of 150.

In future it is hoped enough profit can be made to give back to the community.
