THE Friends of Laneast Church will host a garden supper party and concert of fabulous music from the West End to raise funds to mend the broken church window.

The event will take place on Saturday, July 16, and starts at 5.30pm in the gardens of The Barton at Laneast.

There will be a buffet supper of lasagne and salad, followed by a ‘wonderful selection of desserts’ — there will also be a cash bar offering wine, beer and soft drinks.

The music entertainment will begin at 7pm in Laneast Church and the internationally acclaimed singers Shelley and Darren Jeffery will perform a selection of well-known songs from West End shows, as well as famous opera arias.

Darren studied at the Royal Northern College of Music and made his debut in 2001 on the Royal Opera House’s two-year Young Artists’ Programme, singing more than 15 roles with the company. Darren has appeared extensively in the UK and Europe with appearances at The Royal Festival Hall, Albert Hall, The Barbican and The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in addition to undertaking recordings with Sir Colin Davis and the LSO.

Shelley has performed at The Royal Albert Hall, both in the BBC Proms with Glyndebourne Festival Opera and in Raymond Gubbay’s production of Puccini’s Madame Butterfly. In London’s West End, Shelley performed the role of Katisha in The Mikado at The Savoy Theatre for D’oyly Carte.

Retired Cornish GP Anthony Seddon will accompany Darren and Shelley’s performance on the piano. Anthony has previously delighted Cornish audiences when he appeared as part of Medical Maelstrom.

Whenever this group performs there is a stampede for tickets and great reviews.

The concert is scheduled to last for about an hour and a half and there will be an interval half way through where tea, coffee and cakes will be served.

Last year, the group held a Poldark evening, which was very successful and sold out ahead of the event — the hope is for a similar turn out to this years event to raise more funds for the churches ongoing work to the broken 15th century stained glass window.

Tickets for this event are priced at £15 per person, which will include all the food and entertainment.

There will be no tickets available on the night so to ensure attendance it is advised tickets are purchased well in advance. To buy a ticket contact Vicky Williams on 01566 880103.
