DEPUTY Head of Sixth Form at Launceston College and famed ex-Launceston RFC and Cornwall rugby player Steve Rush set himself a 'Turning 40 Challenge' — to cycle 'end-to-end' John O'Groats to Land's End over the May half-term.

After a winter of hard training, he set off south in good spirits, and in his own words, had "an awesome trip".

This was a little more than awesome though; Steve completed the 900 miles journey in only nine days in great weather — except for one poor day on which he got battered in the Lake District, covering only 50 miles in that stint.
